Odette Hnina Temim Chemla was born in La Goulette, Tunisia, on March 31, 1933. Her passion has always been sharing her good humor and her love of cooking.
Her husband was Max Chemla, a highly reputed mechanic in Tunis and in Paris’s 19th arrondissement. She is the mother of four wonderful children: Alex, Paul, Estelle, and Ziva. Odette is a Tunisian Jewish woman who loves sharing her culture and way of life.

She is also a grandmother and a great-grandmother. Through her love of cooking, she passed on to her family and friends culinary traditions rich in flavor and history. Odette is full of kindness and blesses everyone she meets, radiating love and affection. Her generosity and joy for life have made her a beloved and respected figure to all of her community.

Odette Chemla honed her seamstress skills under the guidance of her mother-in-law, Henriette, who sewed for Wasilla, the President Bourguiba’s wife. After marrying her husband Max, Odette worked in Henriette’s shop, developing her own unique and original style. From wedding dresses and dazzling festive attire to baby garments for Brit Milah ceremonies, her creations reflect both artistry and tradition.

Her signature style is wearing a large flower in her hair and bright red lipstick.
